shopp

please wish me luck for i am going to ask mummy to allow me to shop online.

of course i won't be shopping at warehouse or topshop. anyway, they don't ship stuff to this side of the world.

i've been checking out some really cool local shopping blogs

and most of the things come at a really good price compared to what the outside world has.

so far i've seen a few things that i like and willing to buy but it all boils down to mummy.

fingers crossed.

i saw this in the blog called blender. although i would prefer a blacko one.
it is unfortunately sold out.

this is called the boyfriend shirt. i love it. i neeed it.

reddd

As crazy as i sound, i want these sunglasses. they are really cute to say the least.
on friday, maya and i were trying sunglasses from topman or topshop..whichever.
they're the same except one provides men's clothes while the other is for ladies.
anyway, when maya tried the heart shaped ones he looked so cute hehe.
then i tried it on. he said i looked cute too but i wasn't too sure.
to make matters worse, i could hardly seee my reflection from the mirror they put wayy up on the sunglasses stand thingy. even when i tip toed i could only see little bit of my hair.
topshop/topman, us small people deserve lower placed mirrors too.
anyway, eventhough they are quite expensive, i really want them
who gives a damn that it costs rm79.
well, that would be my mum.

well, besides that, today is the last day i'll be sporting my dark purple nails.
next would be reddd. yea baby.

cookieeee

finally after three weeks of exams it's over.
and for the fun part, it's the holidays! woo.
puiyee and i have already planned to bake cookies/brownies on mon and to go to ou on friday.
we are also still in the midst of planning to go to sunway lagoon.
believe it we did this all these planning gizmos before our maths paper haha.
of course pui yee started scaring jillian with her crazy dog stories.
oh gosh. i can't wait.

cheetah peta

holy crap! i want this!
it would match my schoolbag =]
haha.

topshop

the one reason why i find this top very intriging is
the bow.
i pair it with normal shorts or kne length shorts and it will look interesting
cause there is an interesting "quirk" to it.
but i would prefer white.

suddenly i am in love with shirts like these.

yea i know it looks kinda hillbilly-ish but

it looks relaxed and casual. =]
all i need are jeans that actually fit.

const

for the past week or so the internet connection thingy has been a realll pain.
i would have to wait for about half an hour to sign into my msn.
urghhh. it's stressful enough that i have stupid exams going on.
jesus christ. it makes me want to kill someone.
on a lighter note, i can't wait to paint my nails.
to make it even, i'm gonna paint on dark purple for the first week and red on the second.
that way i won't have to comtemplate between both.
and that would be tough.
i thought of buying a really flourescent colour like yellow but i don't know.
i mean i am at the age where i can pull of anything. ANYTHING.
i can wear some fugly shoes and people will say it's diversity
but if i were to wear fugly shoes when i'm 59, people would say i'm nuts.
yea, life's like that.

boring.

boring as hell is the description i'll use today.
i guess it's the post monday blues.
and the funny thing is that i feel like today is still monday
everytime i plan what i want to do at home after school, i remember that i have tuition.
potong stim like crazy.
and that's not all i have add maths paper and bm 2 paper tomorrow.
potong stim again.
eventhough i am totally estatic that it's all gonna be over on friday,
my mind is already set to the holiday mode.
that's why when i stepped foot into the school this morning, i could not help but just wish it was friday already.
and oh yea. today i had moral paper. and trust me, it was the most boring paper i have ever ever sat for. honestly, at times i was like "screw this paper!" and " i hate moral" and 'is this paper even important?"
gosh. i will never get back that 2 1/2 hours of my life back.

guys?

honestly speaking, malaysian guys are the shallowest guys i've ever met.

when asked brains or beauty, the usual answer would be brains.

but we all know they really want to say beauty but they don't want to sound like an ass.

i'm not saying that malaysian girls are not shallow. they are but you're most likely to see a disgustingly pretty girl holding hands with a not so good looking guy. than the other way around.
as much as i want to disagree with my own comment, i know it's true. i've seen it time and time again when i'm lining up for 1/2 an hour to buy a movie ticket or when i'm shopping or even in school. we can't run from the truth.

so back to guys. the real truth about malaysian guys is plastered across our 14" or sometimes smaller or bigger screen that we stare into. with networking becoming more and more popular it's even easier to see the pattern. in friendster for example, girls who are pretty or "hot" but usually flat chested get more attention than the girls who are well..normal looking. of course i don't blame the guys. it's their second nature or maybe it's just their nature to stare at some "hot" girl's picture. but in real life these "hot" girls could be total air heads.

but if you do compare malaysian guys to guys from different countries, you can see that malaysian guys are not as open minded when it comes to relationships as they say they are.
for them personality 3rd, fashion taste 2nd and looks 1st.

agreeee?

doggie!

waiting for my own doinkazoigg/spoinker.

i can't get enough of gossip girl!
it's almost like a guilty pleasure.
although in real life i loathe these kind of girls,
i can't help but watch the drama and the fashion...of course.
blair waldorf is obviously the best character out of the many.
she has the best hair. best style and of course best shoes.
it almost makes me wanna dive into my moniter and live the life they're living.

well, on the other lonely hand, school is officially off for tomorrow.
and andrew and i have already debaucled a plan.
and in this little plan, waffle world is invovled and hopefully with fingers crossed "over her dead body"
yes people..a chick flick.
ohh i can hear the countdown timer tick tocking away.
thursday's a fun day!

aussie.sunburst.sun.

i cannot believe i missed sunburst music festival!
omg i cannot forgive myself.
of all places i had to be on that day, it had to be aussie
which is a million miles away from home so there was no chance for me to do a heroic scene and race through the airport halls as if in search of my boyfriend.
damn you aussie.
well since we're talking about aussie.
aussie was fine.
i prefer the weather in brisbane than in any other parts cause it's almost identical to good 'ol malaysian weather.
the shopping was in one word-to die for.
haha. i bought two high waisted skirts but i think i'll lose a bitof weight before parading them in public.

the white dress

ok so it's down to the wire.
in less than a month, i'll be receiving the sacrament of confirmation...finally.
and i'm pretty much not ready in the physical aspect of it all.
i have no white dress. well actually i do but apparently it's too small now.
and my gold heels are kinda busted.
so yes that's how unready i am for this.
since the confirmation camp, i've been freaking out
cause i feel like i'm the only one who hasn't gotten their stuff ready.
so since i'll be off to brisbane in less than a week
i feel like that place is my last resort if not my only resort.
so until then i'm a wreck.

drama drama

gosh.
it is practically impossible to download the new panic at the disco song
i've been trying since god knows when.
man..what does a girl have to do to get what she wants?
well, on a lighter note. my class had drama last friday. no it's not catfight drama, it's drama drama. you know the one where people act in it.
anyway, it stunk. and pn koh made it even harder for us cause she kept pointing out ALL our flaws so we pretty much hate her guts now.
but i must admit i enjoyed the process eventhough it was stressfull at times.
but man do i regret wearing my strapless bra on the day of the drama.
it made my boobs look extra big. t
rust it was really really embarrasing.
darn you cookie monster!

picas

pose bitch.

the over edited pic

resah beb.

year end 2007 summary

holy crap.
it's been ages since i last blogged. trust me, alot of things have happened since then.
well first of all i met this guy named chris. when i first talked to him on the phone he said that he saw me in school before but i didn't believe then when he said he saw me in pyramid lately that's when i was like "whoa"
well after that we just mainly talked la. he's a nice guy. he's sweet and funny.
then one day i got this message from a guy named niven. he said he's jason's cousin and that he would really like to get to know me. so i just gave it a chance.
at first i thought he was just like all the other guys, you know, talk to you until they get what they want. but after a while he started giving me hints that he really likes me. once we talked on the phone and he said that he would fantasize about his future girlfriend and that was by far the biggest hint ever. haha
but then another guy came into the picture, damo.
he's extremely charming, seriously.
he say he's the "playa" but deep down he's such a romantic guy.
then for awhile i stopped talking to damo cause i felt as of he was ignoring me.
niven would be the one giving me advice all the time about not wasting my time with guys like these and only then i realised he was right.
so ever since then i've been falling for niven.
and when i told him that he was so happy to the point he was speechless haha.
so on the 12th of december 2007 at 1.03 am we become an official couple =]
i love him to death.
i just love the way he treats me compared to jason.
and he's soooo loyal to me and that's what i loveeeee about him and i would never ever leave him or let him down cause i know guys like him don't come knocking on your door everyday.

Thursday, October 18, 2007

decisions, decisions.

tomorrow is the day.
i'm going out with jason for lunch in the lunch which is actually quite funny because even when we were dating, we never ever had lunch together. so this will be our first official lunch together.
we are weird.
as usual, i'm cracking my brain thinking what to wear.
my first choice was actually this beige-ish shirt dress
my second choice is my retro dress which will be worn with my green zara cardigan
my third choice was just to wear my new mng shirt or topshop tank top with my black 3/4 pants finished off with the green zara cardigan.
of course there will be accessories. but the outfit makes the accessories so i'm just focusing on what the hell to wear.
i thought that maybe a dress is abit too formal for a simple lunch. so what to do? what to do?
anyway, i just hope that he's not gonna give me another ring.

Tuesday, October 09, 2007

doctor style.

i'm going crazy over these zara shoes that i saw yesterday in 1u.

it was soo cute. it was black&white ballet flats which cost rm189.90 i think.

i would have taken a pic of it but there was a dude working there looking at me.

i also saw this really really really cute doctor bag.

in my mind i was going " OMG!!! i want!"

i think it was around the same price as the shoe.

so i'm going to save up my money to buy the doctor bag and the shoes!

but of course i didn't go home empty handed. my mother bought me a green cardigan.

woohooo.

bags bags bags

ah. exam is in like 4 more days?!
and to make matters worse, i haven't studied shits ok.
but anyway. on a more important note, i'm itching scrathing to get an oversized clutch.
not sure whether to buy it here or get it in aussie.
and the other day when i went to dorothy perkins i saw this ultra cute little red handbag.
it's not a bag which you can swing over shoulder but more like one that you just hold on to.
but still it was super sexy.
and oh yes. almost forgot.
my beeeloved father bought a chanel bag!!
it's the latest darling.
love it!!!

design shmesign

with one competition down, i felt like joining another one.
so i was in coffee bean this morning reading Malaysian Today when i realized they were having a competition.
it's basically about designing a tote bag
and here's the best part: if you're the winner, you get to keep the bag you designed.
awesome, i know.
anyway, here's the webbie. www.malaysiantoday.com.my

the review

ok
so if you totally missed project runway malaysia yesterday, what the hell were you doing?
yes, i know i'm lame cause i don't go out on friday nights but hello! i'm only 16
there's alot of time for that next time when i'm rich & famous! haaha
anyway, this week, they had to design a red carpet appropriate dress for a so-called penyanyi terkenal.
when they introduced her, i was like "who?" haha
even alexandria was like "who's she?" haaha. we think alike.
so Nurul(the "penyanyi terkenal") briefed them about what she likes and what not.
she goes on and on and on about what colours suit her.
nurul, nobody cares!

This is Nurul."penyanyi terkenal". she only looks thin here. in actual fact. she ain't.

so after that the designers were brought to Poh Kong to pick out jewellry.duh.
then they went to shop for material and of course being a typical malaysian show, they shopped at none other than...dum dum dum.......KAMDAR! ew. that place is like a one-stop shop for cheap material.

i mean if you want to be a good designer at least go to a fabric store that sells expensive material that will make the outfit more glamourous. flousy flousy. haha

then of course the show continues with the designers putting together their outfits. mumtaz, the only indian designer, and what a typical designer she is, bought the most ugliest material that just screams CHEAP!

i felt sorry for her. after patrick lum totally beat down her dress, i think she was also like feeling sucky about her choice of fabric. poor girl.

unfortunately, this week they didn't really show much of norita. sad, sad.
well, i have to admit that norita is my favourite!! i just love her personality and her style too.
i also like alexandria because of her style but she doesn't really dress well for the eliminations.
i'm just saying, y'all.
but her hair is awesome! haha cause it's kinda like mine.

ok fast forward to the runway.
most of the outfits were missing a bit of glam.
obviously jenny's dress was seriously terrible. it was so bad dato' bernard chandran was questioning her sewing skills. tsk tsk.

mumtaz's outfit looked as bad as it did on the manequin. so that pretty much says it all.

so, alexandria did the prettiest dress. it looked like what hilary swank wore to the oscars( i think it was the oscars.) except it was looser and shorter and in white silk( i think)

it look very very elegant and 80's. very nice.

so of course, alexandria won this competition. yay! finally!

ah, can't wait till next week. hopefully i will give y'all the scoop.

KLFW 07

october 27 to 31 is THE date to remember!
Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2007
ahhhhhhh!

Sans Sambal

I've finally finished my essay.
so if you want to read it and drop a comment, feel free to do so =]

Sans Sambal

“Adik, nak apa?” Mak Minah asks with a worried look. Eventhough her eyes look tired and the bags under her eyes seem to get puffier and darker everyday, I can just feel her aura. I’m pretty sure it’s green. She reminds me of my mother—minus the dark circles and tired eyes thanks to twice-a-month facials—who is always worried about other people—verging on nosy—and sees herself as the walking shrink “Adik?” Mak Minah’s face is now so close to my face that if I murmur she could hear it. “Sorry. Totally spaced out,” Her worried look instantly changed to confusion. I can’t blame her; my lingo is practically alien language to her. “Satu nasi lemak tanpa sambal,” a middle-aged Chinese lady who was burying her face in a newspaper has now looked up and gives me a look. A look that pretty much says, What the?
She must have overheard me going sans sambal. I guess it is very “un-Malaysian” of me to say that or even eat nasi lemak like that since sambal and nasi lemak is like glove to a hand. Or in other words, a match made in heaven. Growing up in a family where sambal is a staple in all our meals—including dessert. Seriously—it’s not that hard to boycott it.
I quickly take the nicely wrapped nasi lemak from Mak Minah’s hand to avoid anymore looks and skedaddle.

I can’t help but wonder if there was an eclipse lately. No, really. My mother who only listens to Malaysian music at Malay weddings is listening to them non-stop. We actually have to share custody of my mp3. Well, they are catchy.
That’s why; I’m not surprised to find myself mouthing the words to Itu Kamu while catching up on the latest Hollywood gossip and lifting my head up every three seconds to check on the traffic lights.
Ah, multitasking.
I abruptly jump at the sound of my ring tone and before I could respond, Roxanne is all but shouts “Liv, where are you? Class is starting in a few minutes! Cepatlah!”
“Relax Roxanne. I’m five minutes from the college,” I say coolly. “Oh, thank God,” I could feel her sarcastic vibes through the phone and without even seeing her, I knew she was giving me a glare—which could turn metal into molten if she’s not careful—because she knows I’m at least 15 minutes from the college.
Eventhough we’ve only known each other for the past four months, we’re already familiar with each other’s good and bad traits. We both know what coffees we love—for me its caramel macchiato and Roxanne its mocha latte—and mornings are unimaginable without them. And above all, I know Roxanne’s clothes are a major, major boundary for she’s one hell of a hygienic freak. Of course, we occasionally get into our girl fights but one thing’s for sure; we’ve always got each others’ back. “Just hurry up. I’ll wait for you,”

I’m fifteen minutes late—shocker. I try to find Roxanne but she’s nowhere to be found. All I see are students sitting sluggishly in the college café struggling to look cool while people like me—who embraces the local food with much joy—sit at the cafeteria trying to finish their curry mee laksa—the college’s self-proclaimed “spaghetti of the East”—in order to make it to their next class. Mak Cik Gina or as we call her, Mak Cik G—the most passionate cafeteria lady I know to date—is making sure every chili is in it’s right place. She’s the reason for the word perfection.
I walk into the class trying not to grab anyone’s attention. But of course, I fail. Of all times, my phone starts ringing. Damn.
“Good morning, Olivia. You’re rather early,” Mr. Rizal looks at me with the same glare I often get from Roxanne. He’s wearing his usual T-shirt and tie combination—with a flamboyant touch to it—paired with his tighter-than-usual jeans which just screams queer. “It’s one thing to be fashionably late but this is pushing it. I expect this to be the last time,”
I attempt to show my sad puppy eyes but I fall short “It’s not working,” Damn. “Go to your seat,”
Mr. Rizal then continues where he left off. “So, your outfits have to be done by 30th of August, when they will be presented infront of a panel of judges. Get to it people!” I stare blankly at Mr. Rizal then at Roxanne who is at the other end of the classroom. She seems to be busily sketching her ideas that even when I throw a paper ball at her, she does not retort—like what she normally does. Instead of throwing another ball and suffer the consequences, I go over to Faez.
“Hi, girlfriend, you seem like the only person I can talk to without receiving any sort of glare. So, what is the assignment about? I kind of lost, you know, since I’m late,”
“Like oh my God. We have to like design our own modern-contemporary twist to the traditional outfits. Since I’m like totally Melayu, I’m so like doing Baju Melayu. Like duh,” Being the only good tailor—and gay—in his family, Faez is always in a 5 feet radius from his family—especially his mother—to sew curtains, pillow cases and cat costumes. Basically, the simple stuff but come Hari Raya, he’s most sought after. All the neneks and mak ciks rush to be the first to pre-order his one-of-a-kind Baju Kurungs and Baju Kebayas. He’s like the Malaysian John Galliano except with more flare.
“Thanks Faez. You’re a life-saver,” I throw my arms out to give him a warm, friendly hug but instead I get a cold stare. “Sorry darling. I prefer air hugs. They’re like so the in thing right now,”

I’ve never really liked assignments. The deadline is always too short, the stress is unbelievable and the pressure to create something original is crazy. My sketch book which is usually full of ideas is as dry of ideas as my mind. The hundreds of my mother’s design books—several already deteriorating—are not helping and listening to Kanye West isn’t helping either.
Unexpectedly my phone rings. The caller I.D. reads Mummy. “Wow. This is a first. Usually I have to call you three times to get an answer,”
Annoying is just one word to describe her. Like clockwork, I’ll receive a call from her everyday. So being the normal rebellious teenage girl that I am, I ignore her calls.
“I can’t help it that I inherited Dad’s hearing,” I say wittily.
“Very funny,” she sighs. “Anyway, how was college?”
“College-ish. I have an assignment to work on and I’m flat out of ideas,” I say flipping my pencil like a baton without breaking a sweat. Strenuous hours of practice in Mrs. Faye’s class has skilled my “gift”. Now all I have to surpass is sleeping with my eyes open.
“Have you looked at—,”
I say, “Yes,” knowing she was referring to her design books.
“So, what is this assignment about? Maybe I can get this brain of mine to work,”
“We’re supposed to design our own contemporary twist to the traditional outfits,” I say as if it’s the hundredth time I’ve said it.
Mummy starts lecturing about how we teenagers have it easy and how twenty years ago; sewing by hand wasn’t an option. I stare at my sketchbook musing when suddenly—with Mummy still going on in the background—the light bulb above my head flickers on. “Mummy,” I say “I better get to this,” I would ask her about work, but rather not to listen to her never-ending complaints about how the coffee is equivalent to dirt. “Alright, Liv, Bye,”

“Okay,” Mr. Rizal says loudly to the models “The show is starting in five. Get to your places!”
Everyone is everywhere. People are running around, students are making last minute checks but I on the other hand am finished. My outfit is perfect—no buttons coming loose and definitely no tears. I look around and to my surprise Faez has ended up doing a Cheongsam. How very ironic.
The music which starts with its repetitive beat gets everyone up and ready. The lights are softened and one by one the models walk out onto the runway that’s cleverly decorated in Jalur Gemilang colours—considering it’s the eve of Independence Day. The judges—whose expressions hardly change not even a bit when Roxanne’s eye-blinding outfit went down the runway — are jotting down only-God-knows into their notepads.
Backstage, everyone is timorously watching their outfits go onto the runway. The tension is so terribly crazy; nobody notices Mr. Rizal doing his rendition of the robot. Unfortunately, I did.
But before I could take out my camera to capture this faux pas, my model is cat walking my outfit. And as I watch it go down the runway—shimmy and all—I had a Thriller moment: the Malaysian part of me took over.
Malaysians are Malaysians for countless reasons; because some wear the traditional outfits, some support piracy, some eat nasi lemak—with sambal. But to me, all of that doesn’t matter when being a Malaysian is to be infinitely proud of Malaysia …and flaunt it.

get me out!

if you were to ask me if i'm ready to leave school,
my answer would be YES!
honestly, i can hardly wait.
school has become such a routine thing, it's crazy.
day in day out, it's the same.
people are annoying as hell and don't even get me started in the teachers.
they're like adding salt to the effing wound.
the day i finish spm and finish with school would be like a dream.
a sense of "freedom"
no more unflattering uniforms and no more heavy school bags.
yay! haha
puiyee still goes on about how she does not know what to do
and so i being a very helpful friend *ahem* tells her to just do what she likes
but she doesn't seem phased by it. hey, i tried.
all in all, the college that i'm DYING to go to is Raffles Design Institute.
that place is incredible.
they only offer courses for fashion and i want to be a part of it!!
mummy, of course, was like "get your degree first"
geez.
i mean...fashion journalism is what i want to do.
it's by far the closest i can get to the fashion industry and to bernard chandran.
i don't think there's any other college that offers fashion besides lim kok weng and cenfad
but for the moment i just can't wait to get out of school for good!
